| It felt like December left as quickly as it started! With the excitement of the holiday break, I didn't have a chance to share the exciting things going on with the students, so please allow me an opportunity to look back at what was accomplished. During the month of December, I recruited a team of Freshman who traveled with me to visit our feeder middle schools to convince rising 9th graders why they should choose Kempsville. Our students planned and prepared a presentation where they talked about everything wonderful about our school, and they shared why they picked Kempsville above all of the other options out there. They talked about their family connections to KHS, the supportive student body, and made sure to entice them with the yummy cookies our PTA sells! After some talking by me, the day wrapped up with the students talking to small-groups of middle-school students candidly responding to their questions and concerns about high school. As a result of our visit, the idea of hosting a high-school preview day for our rising 9th graders was generated. Mr. Harris loves the idea of hosting our future Chiefs for a day so look for more details to come! |

GSA Performances | As you may have heard, the Star Wars movie premiered in December. This premiere was greatly anticipated by our GSA orchestra students who were preparing the original John Williams score for a performance at MacArthur mall on December 19. The pictures below showcase just some of the talent displayed that day! |
Vocal Music students performed Handel's Messiah to commemorate the holiday season. You should be able to spy a couple of familiar faces below.
